Why does the event cost? Where will the funds go?
Afrotectopia is an entirely student-led initiative, and our inaugural event. Our budget started at $0, and creating an event like this is costly. Funds go to paying for the catering of 5 meals for over 200 attendees, open bar reception, staff (to run the space), etc.
What is included in the ticket?
(1) Free Afrotectopia shirt, (5) meals, (1) reception with open bar, (6) insightful panels to choose from, (9) performances/workshops/demos/conversations to take part in, joining a community of about 200 predominately Black/POC creatives, (9) lightning talks, an entire to weekend to network with established companies looking to hire and incredible creatives, plus plenty more.
How do I buy a ticket?
Please apply on our website. The button is located on the main page over our banner. Once you apply, we will carefully review your application and notify you when your application has been accepted, denied or waitlisted. Space is limited and we're looking for people we believe can contribute and gain the most from Afrotectopia. Also please keep in mind that Afrotectopia is designed by Black creatives, for Black creatives.
Are there refunds for ticket purchases?
There are no refunds for ticket purchases. If you purchase a ticket from someone who can no longer attend, you must notify us in advance to transfer the ticket.
I have more questions.
